C&S Challenge #33 - Monochromatic

#33
Challenge:   Monochromatic
August 20 - 26th, 2013

Hello Everyone. I was really excited for this weeks challenge.  I love creating monochromatic cards.  What was even better about this card is that I used some items that I haven't seen or used in I don't know how long.  I must confess that that my craft room is a complete disaster and that I've been trying very hard to rearrange and organize it.    So my morning routine is to go walk on my treadmill for 30 minutes and sort paper for 15 minutes before I start getting ready for work.  On this particular morning, I started sorting paper first and never made it to the treadmill.  (I think the treadmill needs to find a better place than my craft room).

I actually purchased this Hero Arts Thank You background stamp recently and it was sitting on my table waiting to be put away and I started sorting all my 12 x 12 paper and ran across this sheet of teal card stock.  I bet it's 6 or 7 years old and not the best quality stuff I've ever used.  (Yes, paper sorting stopped and I started to play).

So I stamped the background stamp with Pistachio ink on the teal and then on some cream.  Looked much better on the cream.  Then I went to cut the cream to the right size and messed up.  Smacking myself in the head I took an idea from one of Jennifer McGuire's card classes and just cut the cream piece in two and faked it.

Then I found this discontinued Stampin' Up Flight of the Butterfly stamp set that I purchased and have only used one other time.  I stamped everything with versamark ink and used Hero Arts white embossing powder.  I fussy cut out the butterflies and popped them up with foam tape.

Not to bad for a card that took less than 15 minutes to build.  I was pretty pleased with it.

So now it's your turn to give the challenge a try and enter your creations.  We look forward to seeing them.

C & S Weekly Challenge #32 - Saturday

#32
Challenge:   Square Card Challenge 3x3 or 4x4
August 13 - 19th, 2013

Hello Crafty Friends! I was lucky enough to have two design team days on Cuttin' and Stampin' Challenge Blog this week.

The theme for this week is the "Square Card Challenge".  We were given the choice to start with either a 3 x 3" or a 4 x 4" square base card to create our card.

I have a Bugaboo digi stamp from a Father's Day Challenge.  And the image worked perfect for a quick card I wanted to send my son.

Many of you know that he's a mechanic and recently he took another step into adulthood by taking out a loan to purchase a car.  So for a sarcastic congratulations I built this card.  Gus having to work and not being able to go play.

I colored him with Copics and then put three wrenches down the side.

I used some glossy accents to bring out his glasses.

Here's the pocket inside the card.  I was thinking about adding a wrench or two to the inside before it goes in the mail.

Let's see what you create with either a 3x3 or 4 x4 square card!

C&S square card and CBD A Day for Daisies

#32
Challenge:   Square Card Challenge 3x3 or 4x4
August 13 - 19th, 2013

Hello Crafty Friends! This is Tammy with Life - Up, Down and Sideways.

It's my Design Team Day for Cuttin' and Stampin' Challenge Blog!
The theme for this week is the "Square Card Challenge".  We were given the choice to start with either a 3 x 3" or a 4 x 4" square base card to create our card.

I was given a digi stamp from A Day for Daisies.  That's this week's sponsor on the Crafting by Design Challenge blog.

I was so excited to use it, but I didn't quit know what I was going to do.  But I knew I had a stamp from K. Andrew Designs, Fashionable Friends and it had a great saying about shoes.  So I created a gift card holder for a friend that likes shoes as much as me.

So I made it into a side loading gift card holder.

Here's a close up of the stamp.  I love the saying.

I'm sure any shoe lover would like something like this.

Let's see what you create with either a 3x3 or 4 x4 square card!

CBD - Celebrate Women

Today I have a great post for the Crafting by Designs challenge blog.  This week's challenge is put on by team member Rene who lives in South Africa.
On the 9th of August they celebrate National Women's Day.
This day has historical value for them, but essentially it recognizes the role women played and still play in society. This week our theme is: Anything Goes with a Twist: Celebrate Women!

We have a new sponsor this week! Digistamps4Joy is giving 5 images (own choice) to the winner of the challenge!

Digistamps was wonderful enough to give the design team two different stamps to chose from.  The first on was called Corset and Frills.  I'm in the middle of creating a mini wedding album.  I thought this image would work great for the bachelorette party.

Here's a picture of all the pieces.  There's a mini 6 pic folder that goes in the pock and the side of the picture page that goes in the side pocket.

The second image that we were give is called Celebrate Celia.  She is such a cute girl.  I've colored her and used stickles to color the banners flags.  Well, I left her on my desk at work to dry and forgot to bring her home.  How dumb was that?

So I started over this morning before work and colored her again.  Then put her a a card with the Bazzill Lucy Crab Shack paper collection.  I used the coordinating stickers for the banner and put it on foam squares.

C & S #30 - Prima Doll Challenge

#31
Challenge:   Prima Doll Challenge
August 6 - 12th, 2013

Prima Doll Stamps created by Julie Nutting are all the rage right now.  There where five new stamps just release last month and a little set of angelic wings and whimsical boarders.  So this weeks challenge is to create something using the Prima Doll Stamps.

I received my Prima Dolls in July while I was on vacation and couldn't wait to get home and play with them.

The particular stamp I used reminded me of the local High School Choir Dresses.  So I thought to make a fold out card that would have the pretty girl on the front and then open up to show a show schedule.  I started with a manila file folder.  Then I put magnets on the back so that it will stick to the locker or refrigerator door.

I colored her with Copic markers then used crystal stickles to cover the top of her dress.  Then used blue stickles for her shoes.

The stamp set was from A Muse Studio and the paper is from Bazzill.
